Noodopvang Hellevoetsluis (Kanaalweg Westzijde)
An accommodation ship for asylum seekers has been moored at the Kanaalweg Westzijde in Hellevoetsluis (Voorne aan Zee), at a quay previously used for the same purpose, with the council agreeing to the COA's request to keep it there until the end of 2026. The ship is run by the COA and houses up to around 150 asylum seekers and status holders, most from Syria. A sounding-board group of residents, businesses, council, COA and police meets quarterly; some neighbours have reported sewage odours during heavy rain and felt misled about the ship's placement.
