A guide to using the platform: exploring the map, understanding the data, voting, and contributing locations.
The Interactive Map
A full screen map of the UK showing every known asylum accommodation site. Tap any marker to see its address, bed count, estimated daily cost, and source.
Marker Types
- 🏨Hotels Officially contracted asylum accommodation.
- ⛺Camps / Hostels Large site or hostel style accommodation.
- 📍Community Reports User submitted locations awaiting verification.
Search
Find hotels by name, address, or city. Fuzzy matching handles typos and partial input.
Live Spending Counter
The counter at the top shows estimated UK government spending on the asylum system, ticking upward every second based on official annual figures.

Voting
Each location has upvote and downvote buttons:
- ▲Upvote confirms the location is accurate and active.
- ▼Downvote flags outdated or incorrect information.
Requires an account. One vote per location per user.
Adding Locations
Verified users can contribute new locations:
- 1.Create an account and verify your email.
- 2.Click "Add Location" on the map.
- 3.Place the pin or enter the address.
- 4.Fill in the name, category, and notes.
- 5.Submit. It appears as "pending" until verified.
Accounts
A free account lets you:
- ✓Vote on location accuracy
- ✓Submit new locations
- ✓Set a username for your contributions
Only an email is required. No personal data is sold or shared.
