Noodopvang 's-Hertogenbosch (Pettelaarpark)
The former Mövenpick Hotel at Pettelaarpark 90 in 's-Hertogenbosch was converted to house around 250 asylum seekers for up to five years, as part of a wider plan that also envisaged 350 more at the nearby Kruithoorn site. Residents and businesses on the business park objected, arguing 600 asylum seekers in an already vulnerable neighbourhood was too many and that they had not been able to lodge complaints. In February 2024 a judge, after initially suspending the permit, ruled the hotel reception could go ahead.

Judge rules asylum seekers may move into Den Bosch hotel after all
Omroep Brabant reported that a court allowed asylum seekers to move into the former Mövenpick Hotel at Pettelaarpark after residents and businesses objected. Objectors said the Gestelse neighbourhood was already vulnerable and that 600 asylum seekers across the hotel and the nearby Kruithoorn site was too many; the judge let the hotel opening proceed to prevent homelessness.

Cost
Dutch asylum reception is funded by central government through the COA. At an illustrative benchmark of about €184 per person per night for emergency reception (noodopvang), the 260 people recorded here on 13 August 2025 imply roughly €17m per year. This is an order-of-magnitude figure for context only, not a site-specific invoice — emergency reception typically runs around three times the cost of a regular centre.
