Hotel kept open privately to shelter 58 young men
After the official arrangement ended, hotel director Calvin Lucock and his wife Unn Tove Saetran kept the hotel open at their own expense for 58 young men, including eight unaccompanied minors, mainly from Morocco, Senegal and other West African countries, who had left or fallen out of the state reception system. Food was provided through Saetran's restaurant. The couple later founded the Fundación Canaria Mama África.
