Centre spécifique des Verrières

Les Cernets 1, 2126 Les Verrières · Canton of Neuchâtel

No capacity is published for this site.

Special centre (SEM's "besonderes Zentrum") at Les Cernets 1, Les Verrières (canton of Neuchâtel). Under Article 24a of the Asylum Act, SEM could assign here asylum seekers who significantly endangered public safety and order or seriously disrupted the running of a regular federal centre. The position shown is SEM's own, taken from the federal Sachplan Asyl geodata, and lies 23 m from the published address. Closed. The commune ended the agreement in May 2025. On 27 June 2025 SEM and the commune agreed to close the centre without fixing a date, and in September 2025 SEM announced the definitive closure for the end of November 2025 (20 Minuten, 11 September 2025). We found no later report giving the day it actually shut. SEM's list of current centres dated 1 September 2026 does not carry it, while SEM's address list, last changed on 17 April 2026, still did.

Swiss asylum accommodation has two tiers: the Confederation runs the federal asylum centres, and the 26 cantons house people afterwards under 26 different arrangements, with no national register. This is the federal tier. The State Secretariat for Migration (SEM) publishes its current list only as images, giving a town and a politically agreed capacity; its addresses come from a separate contact list, and the two do not always agree. SEM does not publish which centres are in operation, so the status here is established from dated SEM releases and press reports, each cited above. Sites SEM publishes with a town and no building address are left off the map rather than pinned at a town centre. Coordinates taken from SEM's Sachplan Asyl geodata are used under the licence Opendata BY, source: SEM.
