That figure is a ceiling agreed with the canton and the commune, not the number of people living here. It is one of six centres SEM shut temporarily because fewer asylum applications arrived than expected (SRF, 21 May 2026). SEM told the Corriere del Ticino on 8 July 2026 that the centre will reopen and that no date has been set. SEM's list of 1 September 2026 still carries it.
