Background

SUZ's page describes an open regime. It adds that special attention is paid to vulnerable groups, which include single women with children, older people, people with physical, mental or social disabilities, and victims of physical or psychological violence. AIDA says the residential centres in Havířov and Kostelec nad Orlicí are in smaller towns with good accessibility to larger cities.

For comparison with the 2025 figures: E15 reported on 7 January 2016 that the centre had capacity for 275 people and housed 134 applicants, and eurozpravy.cz reported on 3 August 2015 a capacity of 275 and 163 people housed.

Reported incidents

Each entry is attributed to the outlet or body that reported it and states the stage that was reported. Nothing here is our own finding, and no one is named as a suspect.

  • 3 August 2015 · Reported (police statement; an overall figure, no individual case)

eurozpravy.cz quoted Martin Červíček, director of the Hradec Králové regional police, as saying that problems linked to the centre included public drinking, disorder and property misdemeanours, and that asylum seekers had committed 10 criminal offences in the previous five years. He said this was nothing the police could not handle, and that police had not recorded a rise in crime. No individual case was described.

The Refugee Facilities Administration (SUZ) runs the state asylum facilities and also detention. Capacity and occupancy come from the AIDA Czech Republic 2025 update (June 2026), which received them from SUZ: capacity is for 2025, and occupancy by centre is for the end of 2024 because figures for 2025 were not available. Each is dated on this page. Capacity is a number of places and not a headcount, and the occupancy figures are not current. Addresses are from SUZ's page for each facility, and positions are derived from those addresses. The cost published is for the whole agency, CZK 939.8m in 2025, detention and other services included, so no site shows a cost. Incidents come from news outlets, the police or official reports, each named and dated, with the stage that was reported. A facility that works like detention is labelled so.
