Square Daviais camp and former lycée occupation

Selon InfoMigrants et France Bleu (septembre 2018), un grand campement de migrants -- nombre d'entre eux demandeurs d'asile, principalement originaires du Soudan et de l'Érythrée -- a occupé le Square Daviais, dans le centre de Nantes, pendant plus d'un mois ; les comptes rendus faisaient état de plusieurs centaines de personnes (les chiffres allant jusqu'à environ 450-700), et après l'évacuation un groupe a occupé un ancien lycée à proximité. La Ville de Nantes a hébergé des centaines de personnes dans des gymnases municipaux.

Evacuation of the Square Daviais camp
According to Europe 1 and InfoMigrants (July 2018), around 450 migrants, many from Sudan and Eritrea, were evacuated from the camp at Square Daviais in central Nantes on 23 July 2018; only the most vulnerable were offered shelter, and support groups moved roughly 250-300 others into a vacant former lycée.

According to France 3 Pays de la Loire (2 August 2018), police evacuated the city-owned former Lycée Leloup-Bouhier, occupied by more than 200 migrants, on the morning of 2 August following an eviction order issued by the judge on 29 July; many evacuees returned to Square Daviais.

According to France Bleu (19 September 2018), at a hearing before the Nantes administrative court the city announced it could shelter most of the 560 people then camped at Square Daviais, of whom associations said 81.1% were asylum seekers, providing accommodation, sanitary facilities and meals within 48 hours.
