azc Velp GLD (Arnhemsestraatweg)
The reception centre on the Arnhemsestraatweg in Velp (Gelderland) β which since April 2022 has housed around 80 status holders and 50 unaccompanied minors β saw three serious violent incidents within eight months. On 14 February 2025 three residents were wounded in a stabbing that police said followed a room dispute that got out of hand; a large emergency response attended and a minor was arrested and barred from returning. That followed a brawl in June 2024 that left three injured and a further stabbing in July 2024.

Cost
Dutch asylum reception is funded by central government through the COA. At an illustrative benchmark of about β¬80 per person per night for a regular centre, the 200 people recorded here on 13 August 2025 imply roughly β¬5.8m per year. This is an order-of-magnitude figure for context only, not a site-specific invoice β emergency reception typically runs around three times the cost of a regular centre.
