azc Eindhoven (Keizersgracht)

The COA's temporary reception on the Keizersgracht in central Eindhoven used two neighbouring hotels, Hotel Glow and hotel-restaurant Dirven, which the COA ran as one location. Omroep Brabant reported in August 2023 that it would house 65 unaccompanied minor asylum seekers aged 15 to 18 and 40 status holders, mostly couples, and that according to the municipality the COA had good experience of combining the two groups. First agreed for one year from mid-September 2023, the reception was extended in July 2024 to September 2025 at the latest, and in August 2025 to the end of December 2025. From January 2026 the young residents moved to the COA's Kanaaldijk-Zuid location in the city, and in July 2026 the AD reported that the two hotels would become a single hotel after the asylum seekers' departure, reopening in early 2027.

Cost

Dutch asylum reception is funded by central government through the COA. At an illustrative benchmark of about €80 per person per night for a regular centre, the 63 people recorded here on 13 August 2025 imply roughly €1.8m per year. This is an order-of-magnitude figure for context only, not a site-specific invoice, emergency reception typically runs around three times the cost of a regular centre.
