Greece asylum accommodation

Documented state sites for people in the asylum procedure: 30, including sites that have closed. Immigration detention sites, listed apart: 3. The Greek state runs closed controlled access centres on the islands, reception and identification centres at the land border and near Athens and Thessaloniki, and controlled temporary accommodation centres across the mainland. Capacity and the number of people counted are dated and differ between sources, so each site page gives its own figures with their source. Island figures are from 1 September 2026 and mainland figures from 31 December 2025.

Reception and accommodation sites · 30

Sites where people in the asylum procedure are housed. Capacity is what the source publishes for the site, dated on its page, and is not a headcount.

Immigration detention, not accommodation · 3

NOT accommodation. These facilities hold people pending removal. Their places are never counted as accommodation capacity of any kind.

Only state reception and detention sites with a published location are listed. Positions are placed by hand from map features and addresses and are marked as approximate on each page. This page does not claim to be complete: a few sites could not be placed with confidence and are left out, the other police pre-removal centres are not yet listed, apartments and housing run by other bodies are not mapped, and the list includes sites that have closed, each marked on its own page.
